Protect your brand in Dubai and across all seven emirates with a licensed UAE trademark agent. One federal filing secures exclusive rights to your name, logo and slogan for 10 years.
Trademark registration in Dubai is done through the UAE Ministry of Economy, not a Dubai authority. One application under Federal Law No. 36 of 2021 protects your brand in Dubai and every other emirate for 10 years, renewable. Dubai mainland, free zone and foreign companies can all file, and Legacy Partners files as your licensed UAE trademark agent.
For the full federal process, see our guide to trademark registration in UAE.
When you license a company in Dubai, the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) approves a trade name. That name only prevents another Dubai licence using the same name. It gives no rights over your logo, product names or slogan, and no protection outside Dubai.
A registered trademark gives exclusive rights across the UAE for your name, logo and slogan in the classes you choose. It is the right you need to stop copycats, enrol in marketplace brand registries such as Amazon.ae and Noon, franchise your concept, or license your brand.
Companies in DMCC, JAFZA, DIFC, Dubai Silicon Oasis, IFZA, Meydan and other Dubai free zones register trademarks the same way as mainland companies: with the UAE Ministry of Economy. Your free zone licence does not protect your brand.
We file in the name of the licensed entity, or the parent company or owner where that suits your structure better, and advise on ownership before investors, partners or franchisees come in.
Without objections or oppositions, the process typically takes 4 to 8 months.
The cost of registering a trademark in Dubai is the same as anywhere in the UAE, because government fees are set federally per class. See the current fee table on our UAE trademark fees page.
Your total depends on the number of classes, whether you file a word mark, a logo or both, and whether any objection or opposition arises. We give a fixed professional-fee quote after the availability search.
Once registered, a brand owner in Dubai can file counterfeit complaints with the Department of Economy and Tourism, record the mark with Dubai Customs to stop infringing imports through Jebel Ali and Dubai's airports, and bring civil or criminal action before the Dubai Courts, or the DIFC Courts where they have jurisdiction.
